Jamboree Housing Corporation Receives Development of Year Award for Clark Commons

Jamboree's newest award-winning property, Clark Commons in Buena Park.

BUENA PARK, CA – Jamboree Housing Corporation announced today that Clark Commons, a new workforce housing property under development in the City of Buena Park, CA, has been singled out as Orange County’s “Development of the Year” at the annual Affordable Housing Awards hosted by the Orange County Community Housing Corporation, the Kennedy Commission, and the Affordable Housing Clearinghouse.

Nearing completion, Clark Commons is a workforce housing property for 70 families. Monthly rents will range from $500 to $1,300 for households that earn between 30% to 60% of area median income (AMI). The one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment homes include energy-efficient appliances, lighting and fixtures.

“We are honored to have Clark Commons selected as the 2016 Development of the Year winner,” said Laura Archuleta, Jamboree president. “Clark Commons is a state-of-the-art, workforce housing development that will be an entirely non-smoking environment to promote healthy living coupled with special programming and activities for our residents and local Buena Park resident who want to participate.”
As part of its community outreach, Jamboree has partnered with the Buena Park School District to help advance the district’s early literacy and digital learning initiative, “Classrooms Without Limits.”  The initiative will provide students with iPads, Internet connectivity and associated instruction to access the growing universe of online educational materials and experiences. Across the street from Mabel L. Pendleton Elementary School, Jamboree has offered to support the initiative by providing meeting areas and digital connectivity services that will be available to students at Clark Commons.

Being developed on a 1.94-acre site, Clark Commons includes 11 one-bedroom units, 37-two bedroom units, and 22 three-bedroom units in a four-story structure built over a concrete podium deck for parking and a recreation area. The property features a large community center with laundry, fitness and technology amenities, outdoor dining and play areas, and the community park. The property also includes a 3,000-square-foot community center adjacent to the street, activating the sidewalk to create a pedestrian-friendly experience for the entire neighborhood. The unique angles of the building structure create dynamic outdoor spaces.

In Jamboree’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, Clark Commons is designed to achieve a LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) for Homes certified Silver rating. Each home will be equipped with ENERGY STAR kitchen appliances, water-saving plumbing fixtures and will exceed Title 24 CalGreen energy-efficiency standards. This lowers energy consumption that provides a cost-saving benefit and promotes a healthier environment for residents.

Architectural services are provided by Danielian Associates, summers/murphy & partners, inc. is the landscape architect, and Portrait Construction is the general contractor.
