Co-developed by Jamboree in 2000, Heritage Villas is an affordable apartment community for seniors in Mission Viejo, CA. Jamboree worked closely with partners such as the City of Mission Viejo and the County of Orange to develop this property, which was built on a challenging site with a large hill directly behind it. Heritage Villas meets part of the growing demand for affordable housing in a city with high real estate prices and few affordable housing communities, especially for active seniors.
In 2017, Heritage Villas underwent a renovation to improve and update paths of travel, including ADA upgrades for unit interiors, common areas, and the community center. The rehab allowed Jamboree to freshen curb appeal and make upgrades to current building codes with new products and materials. This included enhancements to the fitness room and community center.
As one of only two senior affordable housing communities in Mission Viejo, Heritage Villas’ 143 senior apartments are important to the city and to maintaining affordability. With amenities specially tailored to help seniors stay active, healthy and engaged with other residents, Heritage Villas features a pool, fitness center, and community room with a library and game room. Jamboree’s Community Impact Group provides onsite services for active seniors.
In partnership with WNC, a well-established tax credit investor partner, Jamboree’s goal is to preserve the affordability of these units as part of Mission Viejo’s important inventory of affordable housing for seniors. Jamboree will continue to work closely with partners, investors and property management to keep Heritage Villas affordable and well maintained for many more years to come.
